Winter Sports

The WINTER SPORTS policy features cover which is designed specifically to meet the needs of skiers and snowboarders. Helicopter recovery, mountain rescue and air ambulance are included so you can ski in the knowledge that you are fully covered if you suffer serious injury on the mountain.

Cancellation £3000 Loss of travel and accommodation expenses as a result of your trip being unavoidably cancelled due to, for example, injury, illness or bereavement.
Curtailment £3000 The value of the unused portion of your trip if it is cut short due to, for example, injury, illness or bereavement.
Personal Accident £25000 Loss of limbs, sight or for total permanent disablement, limited to the Death Benefit for loss of life.

Medical Expenses £10 million Emergency medical treatment and associated transportation and ambulance costs.
Repatriation and Air Ambulance Costs involved in bringing you home, should this be required, including the use of specially equipped air ambulance and accompanying nursing staff where medically necessary.
Helicopter Recovery & Rescue Cost of bringing you off the mountain should you be injured or taken ill, including helicopter recovery where necessary.
Emergency Assistance Service Multi-lingual emergency assistance service provided 24 hours a day. Our medical assistance specialists deal direct with the hospital to ensure that you receive appropriate care, and to arrange the payment of any bills.
Relative or Friend Assistance Reasonable accommodation and travelling expenses for a friend or relative if you have to be accompanied home on medical advice.
Dental Treatment £200 Emergency dental treatment for pain relief.
Additional Hospital Benefit £1000 A benefit of £20 for every 24 hours you spend in hospital as an in-patient abroad.
Baggage £2000 Loss, theft or damage of your baggage. The limit for a single item is £300, whilst the total valuables limit (eg jewellery) is £400. Baggage claims are settled taking into account wear and tear and depreciation. If your baggage goes astray for more than 12 hours on your outward journey we will pay up to £75 towards the cost of emergency purchases.
Cash & Documents £500 Loss or theft of cash (limit of £120), travel tickets, and passports, whilst being carried on your person.
Loss of Passport £200 Additional travel and accommodation expenses incurred to replace your lost passport.
Travel Delay £200 For each full 12 hours that your outward or return journey to or from the United Kingdom is delayed, we will pay £20 or if your outward journey is delayed for more than 24 hours, you are covered up to £3,000 to abandon your trip.

Missed Departure £750/£350 The cost of your travel and accommodation expenses incurred in reaching your booked destination, if you are unavoidably delayed and arrive too late to commence your booked trip. (£350 for European trips)
Personal Liability £2 million Legal expenses and legal liability for damages which may be incurred if you accidentally injure somebody or damage their property.
Legal Expenses £25000 Payment of legal costs to enable you to claim compensation or damages as a result of injury to yourself.
Hijack £1000 A benefit of £100 for each 24 hours you are hijacked.
Winter Sports Equipment £500 Loss, theft or damage of your winter sports equipment, including hire equipment (single item limit £300).
Equipment Hire £300 Cost of hire if your equipment is lost, broken or delayed for 12 hours on your outward flight.
Winter Sports Pack £600 Up to £200 per week for the value of unused portion of lift pass and ski school fees if you have an accident or your lift pass is lost.
Piste Closure £300 A benefit of £20 per day if the piste is closed due to bad weather or lack of snow. (Available between 1st December and 31st March)
Avalanche/Weather Delay £300 Additional travel and accommodation expenses if your journey is delayed as a result of an avalanche or bad weather.
No Snow Cancellation £3000 Cancellation costs if the trip is cancelled due to lack of snow and all ski lifts in the resort are closed. (Applies for resorts above 1,200 metres, between 1st December and 31st March in northern hemisphere and between 1 May and 30th September in southern hemisphere).
Policy Excess An excess of £50 applies to this policy, but you have the option to remove it. The excess will be deducted in the event of a claim. This applies to every incident and each insured person involved, but where one incident covers more than one section of the policy, only one excess will be applied.
